Falls River Yoga had a third party web builder platform that was outdated and needed a major re-design layout along with it being more responsive and device friendly for users to interact with the website and view schedules and join classes.
The Vermont Lacrosse Officials Association (VLOA) had an outdated WordPress website that was in a blog format since 2011 and needed a major overhaul to recruit new referees. Being an official myslef, they took the opportunity to have me redesign the site and make it mobile friendly. In addition to providing an online presence for their business, the site also serves as the the primary method for recruitment and informing the members of rule updates, events and even awards.
Norwich University is where I switched my career from athletic communications to web development. Our team's task was to update the entire insitituion's website to be more robust and responsive with a mobile first approach. The old website was not responsive or optimized nor was it user friendly at all. After a two year project, we finally launched the new institution website and not only made it responsive, optimized, user friend, but also more secured, WCAG and ADA compliant along with a direction of applying eveloutionary design. While I'm proud of what I've accomplish with the the, this website (or any website for that matter) will never be "final" and will constantly have minor changes as they adapt to generate new recruitment of prosective students for both campus and online.
While I was working at Norwich University as a full time web developer, I was approached by the Athletic Communications department to develop a single landing page for the 2018 NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Championship weekend. The athletic department uses a third party vendor to host their athletic website so I had to use an instyle design with custom HTML and CSS styling to make it all work on a single page withou conflicting with the vendor's actual HTML/CSS classes. It was difficult but not impossible but alas in the end, it came out great and it was also mobile friendly for all fans visiting the campus that weekend. On top of that, the Norwich women's ice hockey team won the 2018 NCAA Championship on their home ice, which was an amazing experience.
As I stated before, I build websites as a hobby and sometimes that includes using a real actual business as a fake client. This website is still in the works for a local farm, Field Stone Farm, which does Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). Their current website is a bit outdated and while they use a blog format, it is also lagging blogs. So by re-imagining what the new site could be, don't even do a blog unless you're committed and you have time and keep it simple with a one-page layout using HTML coding rather than WordPress if needed, especially if you're just trying to get new consumer leads.
